TONY CRAGG

TONY CRAGG
(b. 1949, Liverpool, England. Lives and works in Wuppertal, Germany.)

Tony Cragg studied at the Gloucestershire College of Art, Cheltenham, the Wimbledon School of Art, London; and at the Royal College of Art, London. He participated in Documenta VII (1982) and VIII (1987) and the Venice Biennale (1997, 1988, 1986, and 1980). He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Cologne Fine Art Award (2012), Praemium Imperiale Award (2007), the Piepenbrock Award (2002) and the Turner prize, Tate Gallery, London (1988). He is currently the Director of the Düsseldorf Art Academy, Germany after having been professor there since 1988. Cragg has exhibited internationally at such institutions as the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh (2011), the Musée du Louvre, Paris (2011), the Museo Serralves, Portugal (2004), the Tate Gallery, Liverpool (1999), and the Palais des Beaux-Arts, Belgium (1985).
